On social media, you’ll see a lot of pictures of Martin Luther King Jr in black and white. The reason this is done, is to make it seem as if it was awhile ago. Most of these photos were taken in color. Today, we still battle with racism in different ways. Personally, I can’t think of any times I have dealt with it to my knowledge. But I do have a friend who dealt with it while going out to eat. A white man was drunk and continued to scream at my friend, “N***er!” But racism isn’t only coming out when they are drunk. It also comes out in different places. Daily, black people are dealing with some sort of racism. The workplace is one way. My photographer was telling me some of the things he goes through being a black man in corporate America. On the basketball court in Boston, a lot of NBA players talk about the racist comments they deal with during the game. And traffic stops are when they get al the racism out. You see videos on these flood the internet. But I can’t even be 100% mad. A lot of racism radiating from them comes from what is taught to them. Their grandparents teach them a way of thinking that is passed down. It’s another generational curse to break.
